The Fortune Fish of Sungai Jernih

Sungai Jernih is a village (called as Nagari) where located about 8 kms from Bukittinggi. It is in the northern part of Nagari Baso, Agam district, West Sumatra. This place is well known with a legend of the fortune fish.
On the way to Nagari Sungai Jernih from Bukittinggi, we would drive over great canyon where located in Nagari Baso. We could climb from Nagari Baso and cross over Nagari Sungai Jernih. We would find out how beautiful this part of the world during our jurney.
Sungai Jernih means a river with the clean water. This place is well known of a folklore of "The Fortune Fish". It is about a story of children who disobey their parents. They have turned into big beautiful fish because they disobeyed their mother's message.
The name of the village also reminds people today in West Sumatra that it is important to obey our parents. Today, the people of the village come to that pond because they think it is a sacred place.
